Our Future

Administer Justice has a comprehensive strategic plan to continue to meet the needs of vulnerable low-income individuals.  The plan includes expanded access, workshops, volunteer involvement, services, staff and facilities.

Expanded Access

We are striving for completion of our AT&T award-winning on-line case management system, Justice Center Online, by early 2008.  This will greatly increase geographic convenience for both clients and attorneys.

Beginning in 2008, we will seek to expand appointment locations beginning with the Kane County Law Library and a small satellite office in Lake County.  Before 2012, we will investigate other satellite locations.  This is necessary to avoid the one-way two hour commute that individuals make from over 20 counties to meet with one of our professionals.

Expanded Workshops

Workshops designed to avoid problems and fill the gap in services between advice-only appointments and representation will begin in 2008 in both Spanish and English and locations and times of workshops will be expanded each year.

Expanded Volunteer Involvement

With increased staff, innovative service and educational opportunities and imaginative technology initiatives, we will continue to significantly expand our attorney, tax professional and non-professional volunteer support so that we can increase our ability to serve more people in need.

Expanded Services

Administer Justice will not deviate from its three-fold services of legal, financial and conflict resolution assistance.  However, we will continue to seek expansion opportunities within these areas including expanding our tax services through representation of low-income taxpayers in disputes with the IRS; expanding our ITIN application assistance for those seeking to properly pay taxes; expanding our mediation services by pursuing recognition with the court system.

Expanded Staff

We need to expand our staff to accommodate future growth to include three part-time staff attorneys and one full-time legal services director; part-time bookkeeper, volunteer services director, financial services director and paralegal; and full-time conflict resolution services director.  This will require an increase in revenue from over $200,000 in 2007 to over $700,000 in 2012.

Expanded Facility

We need to find a larger facility of at least 5,000 square feet in Elgin to accommodate future growth.
